Investigators were on the scene late Friday evening in the 600 block of Deep Creek Road.
One person was shot around 8 p.m. The victim suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
A Fayetteville Police spokesman told ABC11 that the incident does not appear random nor related to the remains found on another stretch of Deep Creek Road that is outside the city limits.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the remains found.
On Friday, Fayetteville police officers were also called to a nearby carwash where the victim of the shooting may have fled to look for assistance.
Forensic techs also took photos of a large SUV within the crime scene tape.
No other details were immediately available.
