GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Students at Swift Creek Elementary School in Wake County got a special experience Tuesday morning as the school's new sensory gym opened.
It's called the Focus Factory and uses specialized equipment to help neurodivergent students regulate emotions, build confidence, and start their day ready to learn.
The Focus Factory was created through a grant of more than $2,000 and models the type of sensory tools typically found in private occupational therapy practices.
A twice-weekly program now serves about 15 students. Early feedback from teachers shows meaningful improvements in student readiness and classroom engagement.
