14-month-old left unattended in bathtub drowns, stepfather charged with murder: Warrant

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 19-year-old stepfather in North Carolina is facing charges, including murder, after police say a child drowned in a bathtub on Sunday.

According to warrants filed by the Garner Police Department, Angel Israel Deras Rivas left his 14-month-old stepchild unattended in a bathtub full of water.

The arrest warrants state that Rivas' actions showed a reckless disregard for human life.

He's facing charges of second-degree murder and felony child abuse inflicting serious injury



Rivas is married to the child's mother, according ot the arrest warrant.
