DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Shoppers at The Streets at Southpoint are not waiting for Black Friday to take advantage of deals.

The mall is at capacity, with every storefront filled, and mall staff say they're expecting huge crowds for Black Friday.

The Streets at Southpoint Senior general manager Patrick Anderson says the crowds have already been showing up.

"I think we've seen a lot of shoppers get out early," he said. "It seemed like right after Halloween, you could just see a notable difference in the traffic."

Hayley Boggs, of Fuquay-Varina, says she came out early this week to familiarize herself with prices.

"Today we're just looking for all the good sales," she said. "I love to look before I go shopping and see what was the regular price, versus what's the discount price now. Just checking and making sure I'm not going over that budget."

Cory Tilton and his family from Cary say they're also starting their holiday shopping for his girls by taking a look at sales in the mall.

"We're seeing if anything has deals before Black Friday," he said. "Then the stores with the biggest signs with the percents off, that's where we're going in!"

A lot of shoppers say they're starting to change their habits by buying early, way ahead of Black Friday.

Rebecca Farlow, of Raleigh, says she's started taking advantage of "early Black Friday" deals throughout November.

"I appreciate that a lot of places start early like stuff all of November, and so not just on one day now," she said. "We've definitely been checking out things online that we can get cheaper."

If opting to wait until Black Friday to get the perfect gifts, mall staff say pack your patience.

"There's traffic, have a little patience and we'll get you in and out of here," said Anderson. "Just come and be ready to have a great day."

Staff also recommend planning your shopping ahead of time.

Most of the stores at Southpoint will open at 9, but some of the department stores are opening earlier.

Anderson says they also have a traffic program with the City of Durham, DOT, and police to make sure there won't be any major traffic issues on Black Friday.
