DOT officials install new sign for UNC's National Championship

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- NCDOT has reinstalled the UNC national championship sign on I-40 near Aviation Parkway after the first one went missing in February.

DOT officials say the sign is about two miles from its original location and six miles from PNC Arena.

The sign cost $1,800 to reinstall, said DOT enginner Joey Hopkins.

Update: Missing UNC national title sign found

The newest sign on Interstate 40 near PNC arena celebrating the UNC-Chapel Hill's 2017 NCAA championship recently went missing and has been replaced, by anti-UNC posters.

The sign was one of eight put up to commemorate the 2017 UNC national championship victory.
