The woman was driving her car on Halifax Street on Peace University's campus in Raleigh when the tree fell.

The woman's Toyota Corolla was covered by the tree. Firefighters used chainsaws to clear tree limbs out of the way and made a path for her to get out.

Around 8:45 a.m., the woman was able to make her way to safety.

There were no injuries. The car's back windshield appeared to be destroyed.

The tree also fell on Shania McClary's car while she was visiting a friend at Peace University. She said she wasn't in it at the time.

"We came outside, and as we're coming outside, I'm like, 'You guys just want to go sit in my car?'" McClary said. "And it's on top of my car. So I'm just like--it's stressful."

Halifax Street is closed while crews work to remove the tree, which also brought down powerlines. Heavy winds may have caused the tree to fall.
