Charges dropped against man in downtown Raleigh stabbings

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Charges have been dismissed against a man charged with stabbing several people early Saturday morning on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.

Raleigh Police originally charged 35-year-old Frank Lalich with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors said that investigators obtained surveillance video on Tuesday morning that shows Lalich walking away from a bar while talking with the victims and the group they were with.

Authorities said Wednesday that the charges were dropped because of video evidence that showed Lalich was acting in self-defense.

The decision to dismiss charges came a day after Wake County prosecutors said they were reopening the investigation in light of the new video evidence.
