RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Police Department is conducting an investigation after a person went to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

According to police, the shooting happened in the parking lot of the Food Lion on Creedmoor Road. Raleigh police chief Rico Boyce said the shooting may have stemmed from an argument. Boyce said witnesses told officers they saw two people in two different vehicles arguing before shots were fired.

After the shooting one person ran away on foot and another person drove away in a truck and later crashed at the intersection of Millbrook Road and Winthrop Road. The driver then jumped out and ran, police say.

Chief Boyce said they believe the driver who crashed the truck and ran away is the person who went to the hospital. No other details were provided about the person's injury, but investigators said it appears to be non-life-threatening.

Wednesday, Raleigh police said Jalen Watson, 21, is the man who was shot and he is facing charges in the incident.

Watson is also being charged with Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony possession of marijuana, posession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver. He was also served with an outstanding warrant for two counts of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver.

Officers are still looking for the people in a silver Nissan Rogue who were also involved in the altercation.
