Sales Manager

WTVD, the ABC owned affiliate in the Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville market, has a rare opening for a Sales Manager to work with the strongest local team in the market and national sellers in the country.

This manager will be involved in all aspects of our sales operation. This includes helping to set and achieve budget goals, both linear and digital, forecasting and inventory control, as well working with an experienced, driven local staff.

Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to craft and deliver a powerful presentation, have a track record of success in sales management and developing sales talent, a history of achieving budget goals and growing market share, a history of developing strategies for successful client campaigns and in building new and non-traditional revenue. In short; the ideal candidate knows how to motivate, negotiate and is passionate about winning. The successful candidate will work directly with the General Sales Manager and Digital Sales Manager in creating multiplatform goals for the local staff and national offices, as well as a plan to achieve them.

5 years' experience in broadcast sales required, 3-5 years Television sales management preferred. Knowledge of and proficiency with Matrix, Wide Orbit, Excel and PowerPoint also preferred.

Sr. Manager IT, Broadcast Technology

Job Summary:

As the Sr. Manager of Broadcast Technology, you will contribute to ABC's Owned Television Stations success by working closely with the Director of Technology for the organization. We're looking for someone who's passionate about current and emerging technologies. You will work with numerous hardware, software and network products in a multi-layered distributed computing environment. You will be expected to enforce company policies regarding security, privacy, and data loss prevention. Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated file servers, Internet, news management, broadcast servers and business systems. In this role, you'll be wearing many hats and perform a wide variety of evaluations, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure computers and network infrastructure performance meets company and user satisfaction in an acceptable time frame.

Responsibilities:

Support day to day operations of broadcast information technology systems, software, and equipment

Install / Maintain / Support Cisco LAN/IT infrastructure

VMware Virtual Environment Management/Support

Cloud Computing Management/Support

Windows Server / Desktop OS understanding & proficiency

Production Storage Systems Management/Support

Desktop, laptop, and workstation computer systems installation/management/support

Provide technical guidance and support to end users

Office 365 Production Suite Support

Cisco VoIP systems knowledge & support

Ability to work with enterprise shared services technology group

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years in advanced IT systems administration & management

Good interpersonal and communication skills, positive attitude, team player

Maintain Corporate Standards, Policies, and Procedures

Scripting/Coding experience a plus

Required to be "on-call" outside of normal working hours

Must have advanced troubleshooting / analytical skills

Summer News Interns

ABC 11, the Disney owned TV station serving the Raleigh/Durham/Fayetteville market, seeks a highly motivated college junior/senior majoring in Journalism or Communications for a unique, hands-on, opportunity to experience what it takes to work at a local television station. Student will learn about the news gathering process, on air execution, and behind the scenes technology. Applicant must commit to working 2 to 3 days per week for a total of 10 hours each week, for a total of 120 hours over the course of a semester. Applicant must also have a car. Meteorologist

Job Summary:

WTVD-TV is looking for a dynamic meteorologist to join our ABC 11 weather team. Successful candidates will know how to cover and win breaking weather on-air and on our digital platforms. You must understand forecasting, know the technology and be able to deliver your forecasts in a conversational and engaging style.

Responsibilities:

Preparing and executing compelling, energetic and informative weather reports
Update forecast/conditions and interact with viewers on social media
Provide extensive coverage during severe/extreme weather events
Provide weekend evening forecasts and fill in for shows during the week and build graphics.

Basic Qualifications:

Dynamic presentation skills
Knowledge of WSI and ability to build a show independently
2 years or more experience as an on-air meteorologist
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Required Education

College Degree in Meteorology required
CBM and/or NWA Seals of Approval preferred

IT System Administrator

The WTVD-TV IT System Administrator candidate will be involved in the installation, troubleshooting and support of the infrastructure and systems within the broadcast facility. The candidate must have a passion for and be comfortable with current IT and media technologies, concepts and emerging trends (i.e. Media over IP, Cloud Computing).

Responsibilities

Installation, configuration, and daily maintenance/troubleshooting of IT systems

Routine system patches/upgrades and hardware/software configurations

Provide operational support for end-users; respond to help desk tickets and calls

Interface with third party vendors and support technicians

Lead, execute, and complete projects as directed by management

Adhere to Disney IT policies and best practices in a broadcast environment

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate must:

Possess strong IT/networking and problem-solving skills.

Be a self-starter and able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as a part of a diverse team.

Be project oriented, organized and able to show a proven record of accomplishment of previously executed projects from concept to completion.
