Job Summary:
The ABC Owned Television Stations is seeking to hire multi-skilled journalists to cover the Race and Culture beat in our 8 local markets. Each journalist must be a passionate storyteller, brilliant multi-platform content creator, effective communicator and proven collaborator.

The multi-skilled journalists will be based at each of the OTV stations (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno) and work directly with the newsroom management teams and decision makers to select and create content. The journalists will be part of the editorial decision-making process as it relates to story assignments, sourcing subjects featured in stories and developing community relationships to expand the diversity of voices included in our storytelling. Each journalist may be assigned specific beats with a goal of local and national distribution of the content across all OTV platforms. In addition, journalists will work closely with the ABC News Race & Culture Unit to identify areas of collaboration.

In addition, the journalists will work across the group and meet daily with the Executive Producers of Race & Culture to identify mission appropriate topics, stories and series for journalistic exploration and match with content creators throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
Lead and facilitate diversity & inclusion editorial discussions in your respective newsrooms.
The ideal candidates will be responsible for offering creative and innovative ideas for better story-telling as well as have the ability to work under deadline. They will also collaborate with other stations and teams for joint projects or special features and brainstorm different story angles and ways to increase social media presence. Understanding of digital platforms and social media preferred.

Basic Qualifications:
5 years of journalism experience; Significant experience producing longform content
Must have the proven ability to take a story from concept to completion, including researching, interviewing, shooting, producing, writing, editing and presenting across all platforms
Significant reporting experience and sources in the area of Race & Culture
Candidates must be able to effectively manage story assignments and production in addition to collaborating with the Race & Culture Executive Producers and multiskilled journalists across OTV's 8 markets

Digital Executive Producer

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Using insights to drive editorial and strategic decision making for the digital team and the newsroom as a whole and create accountability for the results
Assist in leading our newsroom to develop workflows that deliver our content 24/7 across current and future platforms with storytelling that is optimized for each screen
Working with other newsroom leaders to create synergy across all platforms on station content
Managing social and multi-platform strategy for station accounts
Managing the look and feel of station's digital brand online
Identifying new content types and innovative technologies that help us reach new audiences
Dominating breaking news with speed and accuracy, owning the big story, and growing new opportunities in our multi-media environment
Collaborate with content makers to maximize the sharing of our content in a multi-platform way
Coach and mentor the news team in best practices for writing and producing content for digital and social platforms
Using SEO (search engine optimization) to increase page views and unique visitors through Google, etc.

Basic Qualifications:
College degree preferred along with five years' experience in audience development/news. Prefer background that includes editor of a news website.
Must have experience analyzing audience data (Omniture, Google Analytics etc.) and identifying trends
Must have a deep understanding of social strategy and SEO with the desire to keep up with emerging platforms
Must understand basic journalism legal principles
Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Working knowledge of online content-management systems required
Experience with FTP programs
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Dreamweaver
Nonlinear editing experience

Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
AP style

WTVD/ABC 11 News, the ABC Owned Television station in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina has an immediate opening for an Executive Producer (Dayside) to join the ABC11 News team. The Executive Producer manages daily newscasts and content in conjunction with other news managers. The ideal candidate must have a keen understanding of multi-platform strategy and have a track record of breaking news success stories. The Executive Producer must able to guide, coach and mentor our staff.
Responsibilities:
Execute big-picture goals while focusing on the details with daily content coverage
Supervise Newscast Producers and provide consistent feedback to Producers by setting goals and tracking progress
Inspire Producers in the development of compelling newscast production and story-telling
Contribute strategic content ideas in editorial meetings
Collaborate with Assignment Editors and Digital Producers on multi-platform breaking news coverage
Work with the Audience Development team on newscast promotion across all platforms
Copy edit scripts
Manage Producer Schedules
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or related field
Minimum 5 years in news producing
Management experience preferred
Must have superior news judgment
Demonstrated ability work under deadline pressures and work in a rapid, fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be flexible with working hours and adaptable to change
