Evidence markers led from a nearby store to the trail
This is the second time in the past month that there's been a deadly incident near the American Tobacco Trail
On March 9, in almost the same spot, Durham Police were investigating a fatal stabbing.
A 51-year-old man was stabbed to death on this trail. Earlier this month, a 46-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with that death.
Both the stabbing and Monday's shooting happened during a time when many people are still out and using this walking trail. The March stabbing happened around 4:15 p.m., and Monday's shooting took place around 6:30.
At 11 p.m., investigators were still working the scene. There's no word yet on a suspect.
