Infinite Campus is a new online system for schools in North Carolina to manage student data, including grades, attendance, household information, and more.
The school district said it will allow parents to feel like they are right in the classroom with their students.
"It allows parents to be truly engaged in with their student activities, incidents, discipline incidents, grades, assignments, lunch schedules, and bus schedules. It allows them to even email the teacher if they have questions about an assignment," explained Dr. Kenneth Thompson, Assistant Superintendent of Technology for Wake County Public Schools.
The district has sent emails this summer to help parents and students set up their new Infinite Campus account. However, if you missed those emails, you can still set up your account.
"First, they need to look for the email from SIS notification. If they cannot find that email, we encourage parents to go to the school and see their data managers. If they can't find the email or even struggle to gain access, their data manager will walk them through step by step," Thompson adds.
Infinite Campus has been used in various schools across the state since July 2024, after being approved in November 2023 by the State Board of Education.
However, Wake County is using it for the first time this school year. Infinite Campus is replacing PowerSchool after a data breach in 2024.
This breach potentially exposed the private information of millions of North Carolina teachers, students, and parents.
Following this breach, security is top of everyone's minds. "The district itself has security measures in place to ensure that data is key and we take that very seriously," assured Dr. Thomspon.
If you have a student in the WCPSS and have not signed up for your Infinite Campus account yet, the district says to look for the initial email or reach out to your child's school's data manager.
