It happened just after 4:45 p.m. at Randy's Pizza, 5311 S. Miami Blvd. Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Durham Police said a man was taken into custody.
DPD's Mobile Command Unit and other officers remain at the scene, which is in a strip shopping center.
ABC11 spoke with the owner of Randy's Pizza, who said he was out of state and was just getting details about the incident.

A visibly distraught employee who was leaving the restaurant told ABC11 that he just "wanted to go home."
ABC11 saw people leaving the restaurant shaken up, some hugging each other. Several people said they were anxious to get home after being cleared by police.

It remains unclear what led up to the shooting or whether the victim and suspect knew each other. ABC11 did learn from police radio that a caller reportedly said they heard a man yelling, "You just killed that guy." An officer said the victim was apparently in the kitchen of the restaurant.
Since then, the pizzeria has announced on social media that it is closed until further notice.
Employees of Randy's did not comment and referred ABC11 to an attorney who said they would be sharing more information on Friday.
Workers at some nearby restaurants said they didn't see anything and remained open -- allowing take-out food while the area was still blocked off. As midnight approached, only police cars remained in the parking lot as officers continued their investigation.
