Below is a previous report.

Two people were taken into custody Thursday afternoon following an investigation into a dozen shootings on or around Interstate 40 in Raleigh.

Raleigh Police Department (RPD) swarmed a residential area off Tryon Road near Gorman Street, focusing on Newby Court off Trailwood Hills Drive. The activity ramped up around 3:30 p.m. and culminated in loud bangs and police taking a person out of a home in handcuffs. Neighbors also shared a cellphone video with ABC11 of another person being taken into custody.

RPD clarified during a press conference that when they went into the home, they found the person of interest they were searching for and another person, so they detained both of them.

The identities of neither person have been released at this time.

RPD Chief Estella Patterson also specified that the investigation into the shootings is not over. She called for people in the area who may have information that could help investigators to come forward -- specifically anyone with security video that may have captured something from one of the shootings.

"We understand that the community is concerned and fear naturally follows in an incident of this magnitude," Patterson said. "I am a Raleigh resident, and I share your sentiments."

There's a reward of up to $10,000 being offered for any information that leads to the arrest of people responsible for the shootings.

Shortly after 4 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department released information detailing the 12 shootings that had happened this week in the area.

The latest shootings happened Thursday morning along Trailwood Drive. A man called police saying his car had been shot while he was driving down Trailwood Drive near the entrance of NC State's Centennial Campus. That driver was not injured, but police later discovered a second vehicle shot in the area.

Because the shooting happened near NC State, the campus sent out a WolfAlert and university police responded to assist Raleigh Police Department. In addition, Centennial Middle School was placed on a Code Yellow lockdown, but police emphasized that there was no immediate threat to the school.

Eight shootings happened Wednesday at Wolf Tech Lane, Jones Franklin Road, Interstate 40, Shire Lane and Centennial Ridge Way. These shootings damaged vehicles and homes.

The first of the shootings happened Monday on I-40 at Cary Towne Boulevard and Buck Jones Road. These two shootings were into moving cars on the interstate; one woman was injured.

"When I came home early I was like, 'I'm just going to go home', not knowing he was two houses away," said Jessica Brown.

Brown said she didn't know what to make of what she heard outside her window.

"I heard helicopters all around it wasn't no shooting or anything. Just helicopters, police and SWAT team," she said.

The NC State student had to park down the road. Her neighborhood was swarmed with law enforcement.

Brown's roommate Makayla told ABC11 she left her home at nine and missed the shooting on Tailwood Drive by 11 minutes.

She works at an elementary school and said a parent of one of her students wasn't as lucky.

"It's shocking because it's like the connection was too much for me...two doors down...then one of my kid's parents got shot at this morning," Makayla said.
