The Hillsborough-based non-profit is working with other grassroots organizations to connect with families who need help.
The Diaper Bank is distributing diapers, feminine hygiene products, adult supplies, and even baby food.
"These supplies are everyday items that families need, but when there's a disaster, they get a heightened increase in need. So we're working with them every day. So far, we've distributed 126,000 diapers to just the Triangle area alone," said Mia Kuykendall, volunteer director with the Diaper Bank.
Kuykendall said the goal is to meet the needs of impacted families weeks and months after the storm.
"We're giving that family some relief. We're providing them the space and ability to pay rent or to have food on their table or to have some type of insurance or things like that. And so we're really meeting that direct need."
To help meet those needs the Diaper Bank is calling on more volunteers to help wrap and pack diapers. "We couldn't do this work without our community. We are people, power, organization. And so with our volunteers in here wrapping diapers, it would be so hard to meet that need," she continued.
Volunteers Dan Koppenhaver and Caroline Babb are in the Diaper Bank every other day. So, far they have packed and wrapped 40,000 diapers. They are grateful to make a difference in their community.
"A lot of people have lost a lot of their worldly possessions and anything that can kind of help alleviate that to some, to some degree is incredibly helpful to that even," said Koppenhaver.
"I definitely like coming here, especially because after the hurricane and the storms, you know, there are many families in need of those diapers. I think that all the work we're putting into it is going towards a really good cause." said Babb.
