Man found with gunshot wound to face in Raleigh, Wake County sheriff make an arrest in the case

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wake County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest connected to a shooting investigation in Raleigh.

Tuesday night, Raleigh police responded to a shooting call around 6:40 p.m. in the 6800 block of Old Wake Forest Road. Officers found a man at an abandoned house who had been shot in the face.

RPD said. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment. He was expected to survive, police told ABC11.

Wednesday evening, the WCSO said they've arrested and charged 31-year-old Marco Antonio Ramirez-Gonzalez. He has been charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury.

Ramirez-Gonzalez is being held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond, WCSO says.

"The victim was actually here at the businesses here, he made his way down here said Raleigh Police Capt. J.R. Manson. "Was able to talk to us and describe that the actual scene was a little farther down the road on Wake Forest Road."



Police found shell casings at the vacant house.

There are no suspects in custody but police are actively working the scene. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

The victim told officers who shot him and where the shooting happened. The suspect and the victim knew each other.

"He gave us a name but we have no suspect in custody at this time," Manson said.
