16-year-old Shaun Derek Dunn of Durham is facing several charges:
Carjacking
- Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Possession of Stolen Goods/Property
- Felony Larceny Felony Conspiracy
- Second Degree Kidnapping
Armed Robbery
- Felony Conspiracy
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
Dunn is being held at the C. A. Dillon Youth Development Center in Butner.
Chapel Hill police looking for 'armed, dangerous' teen in carjacking
The carjacking occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, in the 1500 block of East Franklin Street. Police believe the three suspects carjacked two individuals at gunpoint. The stolen vehicle was later found in Durham.
New surveillance images from a gas station in Durham show individuals believed to be involved in the carjacking and an earlier armed robbery. A video captured a person of interest shortly after a Chapel Hill woman reported being robbed at her home by three masked men on Thursday, July 17 after withdrawing money from a Bank of America ATM.
During a court appearance on Friday, an Orange County judge ordered Dunn not to have contact with alleged victims. He is due back in court on Aug. 11.
Police are still searching for the two other suspects.
