CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Chapel Hill Police said Tuesday night that they have identified one of the three suspects in an armed carjacking Saturday morning.

The car theft happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of East Franklin Street. The stolen vehicle was found two hours later in Durham.

On Tuesday, police said they were looking for 16-year-old Shaun Derek Dunn, of Durham.

"It's sad. This will impact his life moving forward," said Chapel Hill Police Chief Celisa Lehew. "And it's important we're having good conversations with our youth about how their one decision can really impact their lives."

Dunn has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen goods/property, possession of stolen goods/property, felony larceny, felony conspiracy, and second-degree kidnapping.

"We believe Shaun Dunn is armed and dangerous," Lehew said. "If you see him, call 911 and do not approach him."

Lehew told ABC11 this kind of behavior will not be tolerated in her town.

"Crime is always about opportunity. I hate that we even have to have this conversation," Lewhew said. "The impact and the fear these victims must have felt. So our heart goes out to all of them that had to experience this."

New surveillance images show the people that Chapel Hill Police believe are the suspects behind the carjacking and an armed robbery late last week.

A video taken from a gas station in Durham shows a person of interest just after a Thursday night incident when a Chapel Hill woman said she was robbed at her home by three masked men. Police say the suspects targeted her while she was withdrawing cash at a Bank of America ATM just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Minutes later, those suspects held her at gunpoint and stole cash and credit cards.

About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police said they believe the three carjacked two separate people at gunpoint on East Franklin Street.

"Our investigators are working to identify other suspects in both cases, and I remain confident that we will continue to make progress," Lehew said.

No injuries were reported in either incident. Lehew said these two crimes are connected because the same vehicle that was used in the armed robbery was also used in the carjacking.

"You can't do this in Chapel Hill. It's not acceptable," Lehew said. "One (crime) is too many. And these victims have been impacted."

Anyone with information should call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at (919) 968-2760 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crimestoppers at (919) 942-7515 or go online. Information that leads to an arrest could lead to a reward up to $2,000.
