Bicyclist killed in Durham hit-and-run - 3rd to die in recent weeks

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a bicyclist then kept on going.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the southbound lanes of North Roxboro Street north of Chateau Road near the Old Farm neighborhood.

Police said Tony Morris Turner, 56, of Durham, was found dead when they arrived. A damaged bicycle was found nearby.

They believe Turner was struck by a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with possible damage to its front end.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.

Two other bicyclists were killed Oct. 27 and Oct. 3 in Durham and Chapel Hill. No charges have been filed in those cases.
