FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police are investigating a fire that claimed the life of a person on Saturday.
It happened shortly after 12:00 a.m. at a home located at 1930 St. Paul Ave. off of Ireland Drive in the Evergreen Estates Community.
When the first crew of fire fighters arrived to the home it was over 50 percent engulfed in flames.
When the second crew arrived, they began to search for people inside the home and found one person in a back bedroom.
The victim was taken out of the home and pronounced dead at the scene.
The body of the victim was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Firefighters battled the fire for approximately an hour before it was fully put out.
The entire damage to the structure, its contents, and the car was estimated to be $150,000.
The origin of the fire was determined to be in the living room of the home where the victim was located.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined pending additional investigation.
