Fayetteville man arrested in homicide, attempted homicide case

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged and arrested a suspect in connection with a recent homicide that took place along Knotty Elm Loop.

On Thursday, deputies charged 18-year-old Cartier Simpson, of Fayetteville, with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious harm.



Simpson turned himself into the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.



According to authorities, Simpson fatally shot 19-year-old Jaquan McBryde and critically injured 18-year-old Paul Coleman.
