9-year-old boy run over in Wake Forest has died

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- The boy who was run over while riding his bike on Tuesday night has died.

Logan's father, Logan DeCosta Jr., told ABC11 his son passed away on Thursday night.

"Logan was a special boy," DeCosta Jr. said, "He loved his friends and loved sports. He was outgoing."

On Tuesday, the 9-year-old child was riding his bike at the intersection of Forestville Road and Autumn Forest Trail in the Walkers Crossroads area of Wake Forest.

Highway Patrol said Logan lost his balance and fell into the street, and that's when a passing car ran him over.

Logan was on life-support at Duke Hospital until Thursday night.

"He was an angel," DeCosta Jr. said.
