Several armed robberies were reported near the two rival university campuses just after midnight Friday.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Several armed robberies were reported early Friday morning near two rival university campuses.

The first two incidents happened within minutes of each other in Chapel Hill.

Just after 12:30 a.m., a man reported to police that he was robbed at gunpoint in the 100 block of N Elliott Road. Minutes later, another man reported that he was also robbed at gunpoint in the 1300 block of E Franklin Street. Both were not injured.

About an hour later, Duke University police said two suspects, one of whom had a handgun, approached a victim who was visiting a campus-owned apartment complex near the 300 block of Swift Avenue and demanded money.

The suspects then fled the scene, and no injuries were reported.

Authorities are currently trying to identify the suspects. They were described as black men with dark complexions, each between the ages of 20-25.

Authorities said in each incident, there have been two to four suspects involved, including the person driving a light colored, possibly tan/gold, sedan, which was used to flee the scenes of the crimes.

UNC Campus Police, Duke University Campus Police and the Chapel Hill Police Department are investigating.

"A very active investigation and we are cooperating fully with all the local authorities," said Kyle Cavanaugh, Vice President of Administration at Duke University. "I think anytime that there's something like this, it is taken very seriously. We will continue to do all we can to mitigate any of these things from happening."

Friday's incidents come just 24 hours after two people were robbed at gunpoint on UNC Chapel Hill's campus.
