DURHAM N.C. (WTVD) -- A Jordan High School football player is recovering at WakeMed after suffering a broken neck in a Friday night game against Cardinal Gibbons High School.

Sophomore Brandon Massey, son of Shaw University Head Football Coach Robert Massey, underwent surgery for his injuries over the weekend and was listed in good condition at the hospital on Monday.

Jordan High School has taken to twitter to keep parents and students updated on Massey's health, while many have also taken to the social media site to share their prayers.

Including the principal of Cardinal Gibbons High School, Jason Curtis, and rival football teams across the viewing area.
