RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities in Raleigh are investigating two armed robberies that happened late Wednesday night.
The first robbery happened just before 11 p.m. at the Lime Fresh Mexican Grill in the Brier Creek shopping area.
Authorities said an armed man with a mask over his face entered the restaurant, demanded money and an employee's cell phone, before fleeing on foot.
No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect was described as a an African-American man with a medium build, who stood about 6' to 6' 2" tall. He was wearing a gray hoodie and dark-colored jeans.
About an hour later, two men entered the Food Lion on Grove Barton Road off Glenwood Avenue and held employees at gunpoint while they robbed the store.
The employees inside were tied up during the incident, but it is unclear if anyone was hurt.
Both suspects were described as being African American men with masks on, and armed with handguns.
Authorities say while there are no indications that the two robberies are related to one another, the Food Lion robbery appears to be part of pattern of commercial robberies.
On Aug. 2, employees at the Lowes Foods grocery store on Louisburg Road in North Raleigh were held up for hours after police say two armed robbers were somehow able to get into the store while it was closed.
