DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham firefighters responded to a house fire early Thursday in the 600 block of Holloway Street.
Firefighters reported smoke was visible from a two-story residential structure. Fire in the basement and first floor caused severe damage, and 23 firefighters battled the fire for more than three hours before it was extinguished.
The house, listed as vacant, had evidence that someone was living there and neighbors said squatters had been living in the house. No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
