APEX (WTVD) -- Flames destroyed a house in Apex Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 2100 block of Rocky Mountain Way just after 1 p.m.
Images from Chopper11 HD showed the entire roof of the almost 4,000-square-foot home was completely gone.
The heat from the blaze was so intense that it melted the vinyl siding on the home next door.
"It was a very intense, a very hot fire, and one that was fully involved by the time our department arrived," said Apex spokesperson Stacy Galloway.
No one was home when the flames broke out. The family came home to find their house destroyed.
Neighbors and the community are now rallying around the family and helping them cope.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
