OCEAN PINES, Md. (WTVD) -- Five people were hurt Sunday when a 24-foot boat exploded in flames in Ocean Pines, Maryland.

Witnesses said it happened around 2 p.m. as the vessel was pulling away from a private dock.

The boat's owner had reversed away from the dock and had just put it in forward gear when it blew up.

The five people on board were pulled from the water by neighbors.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
