Gunman sought in Raleigh hotel shooting
Raleigh police say a man was shot in the back at a hotel on New Bern Avenue Monday morning.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities in Raleigh are searching for the alleged gunman who shot a man in the back at a hotel Monday morning.

It happened around 9 a.m. at the Knights Inn hotel in the 3800 block on New Bern Avenue.

Police tell ABC11 that a "lone male suspect" shot a man, took his money, and then fled the scene in a blue BMW or Volvo.

Witnesses who called 911 reported hearing the shot.

"I was in the office, so I went outside to get a drink, and I just heard a gunshot, and so I looked down, and I saw people running," said a caller.

Police identified the shooting victim as 27-year-old Lenin Alvaringa. His injuries were described as serious.

Detectives also released a surveillance photo of the alleged shooter. He is described as a black male who stands about 5 feet 10-11 inches tall and has a thin build.
