CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A massive five-alarm fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a Charlotte recycling plant.
The fire started as a two-alarm fire just before 4 p.m. and was steadily upgraded as more agencies were called to the scene.
The Charlotte Fire Department said four firefighters were checked out due to the extreme heat and one was taken to the hospital.
Firefighters remain on the scene to watch for hot spots.
