Lawsuit filed in Amtrak train accident in Halifax County

HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A lawsuit was filed Friday in the Amtrak train accident in Halifax County that injured dozens.

An Amtrak train collided with a tractor-trailer truck on the tracks at N.C. Highway 903 and U.S. Highway 301 in Halifax on March 9, leaving 55 passengers injured.

On Friday, Amtrak and CSX announced they are suing Turner Transfer Company, which was in charge of that tractor-trailer.

The suit says the trucking company is to blame. Both CSX and Amtrak are seeking more than $75,000 each and protection if either train company gets sued.
