Man shot to death in Cumberland County; police seek suspect
SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Spring Lake police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Sunday morning.
It happened around 12:15 a.m. in the 1300 block of Gary Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found 54-year-old Horace Rufus Epps, of Spring Lake, lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound.
An officer administered CPR on Epps until EMS arrived. However, Epps died while being treated in the emergency room at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Further investigation revealed the victim was shot multiple times.
Detectives are currently investigating the murder and attempting to identify the suspect(s) responsible. They believe Epps knew the person who shot him.
