Rolesville Mayor says Wake Schools leaves town out of the loop on renovation meeting
The Rolesville Elementary School gym could be torn down.

ROLESVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- Town of Rolesville Mayor Frank Eagles says town officials feel left out of the discussion on renovation plans for the Rolesville Elementary School gym.

Wake County Public Schools made plans to go over possible renovation ideas with parents and community members at the elementary school at the same time the Town of Rolesville was set to meet with county and town commissioners to discuss transportation.

Eagles said he first heard about the meeting last week, after receiving a letter sent out to Rolesville Elementary School neighbors from WCPSS.

Eagles said the Town of Rolesville has a stake in the renovation plans.

"In this case it also includes tearing down the old gym, Eagles said.

"That has been a little bit of a controversy. It's in bad shape, and so forth and so on, but the elected officials of Rolesville would love to be there, to hear public comments about it."

He said the town could stand to lose some its athletic programs, as Rolesville and WCPSS have an agreement about outdoor athletic facilities, but are working towards reaching an agreement when it comes to facilities indoors.

Eagles tells us he's optimistic that the Town of Rolesville and Wake County Public Schools can come to an agreement about shared use of space, and that ultimately, any renovation plan proposed by WCPSS needs to be approved by the Town of Rolesville.
