SMITHFIELD, NC (WTVD) -- A body found buried in a shallow grave outside Smithfield has been positively identified as a missing transgender woman from Rowan County, WSOC-TV reports.
Elisha Walker, 20, had not been seen by family or friends since October. Her car was found completely burned in Sampson County in November.
Detectives have charged Angel Arias with murder and felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Arias is a known member of the Latin Kings street gang, detectives said.
He was being held without bond in Johnston County pending transfer back to Rowan to face the charges.
