BANNING, Calif. -- A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck 4 miles north northwest of Banning in Riverside County Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, which was downgraded from a 4.8-magnitude to a 4.5, struck at 6:42 a.m. and had a depth of 4.3 miles.
Eyewitness News viewers in Moreno Valley, Rancho Mirage, Chino, San Bernardino, Irvine, Temecula, Anaheim, Long Beach, Fullerton and Corona reported feeling the temblor.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
USGS seismologist Lucy Jones says the area has a history of many quakes in the magnitude-4 range.
Banning is located along the 10 Freeway in the San Gorgonio Pass between the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountain ranges.
