RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Neighbors in the Brook Forest Townhome community in North Raleigh hope surveillance images help nab what they believe might be a serial package thief.
The latest incident happened Monday at Amy Clark's home where someone ripped off two cases of contact lenses which her doctor confirmed were delivered.
"I didn't talk to the post office," Clark explained. "My eye doctor called and confirmed with the company that it was mailed and then checked with them when it was dropped off."
The surveillance images recorded from Clark's neighbor's home April 21 showed a mail carrier dropping off a package on the neighbor's front porch. Minutes later, a red van pulled up and stopped with the driver getting out. Next, the driver picked up the mail, which the homeowner tells ABC11 is more than a $100 worth of cosmetics.
"Makes you feel uncomfortable that you can't trust that you can have things delivered and still be at your door when you get home," said Clark, who fears the same man could be responsible for stealing her mail. "If they can steal packages off your front door, what else can they do when you're not at home?"
Apparently, several other neighbors have gotten their mail stolen as well.
In addition to posting fliers alerting the community, the neighbor with the surveillance video also contacted the U.S. Postal Service Inspection Service and Raleigh police. He hasn't heard back from either.
He and Clark told ABC11 they wish the mail carriers would take more prudence by putting smaller packages into their community cluster lockbox or simply ring the doorbell.
"My neighbor's wife was home. If they would have rang the doorbell she could have walked out there and got it," Clark told ABC11.
