Raleigh (WTVD) -- Are people being forced to sit on the floor at RDU? Pictures from inside the newly renovated Terminal 1 suggest that.

Passengers waiting at the gates have been seen littered against walls as people arriving from their flight walk by.

The scene suggests there isn't enough seating for people waiting to board the planes following a more than $60 million renovation.

But an RDU spokesperson said that is not the case.

"If you find yourself in a terminal and you need additional seating, there is seating down at some of our other gate areas," explained Mindy Hamlin.

Currently, only Southwest and Air Tran airlines fly out of the terminal.

In all, the terminal is 166,000 sq. ft. and has nine gates. It is slated to be able to handle more than 3 million people a year.
