DURHAM COUNTY, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating after a body was pulled from Lake Michie in Durham County on Sunday morning.
A fisherman found 76-year-old Harold Huston Wood around 9:30 a.m. near the Lake Michie boathouse on Bahama Road, police said.
The Sheriff's Office said the Durham Police Department is handling the investigation.
David and Vanissa Conklin go bass fishing at the lake almost every weekend. Though they didn't find the body, they said they're going to be more cautious when they go out on the lake.
"I think if we were to find something like that it would probably mess our day up pretty bad," David Conklin said.
The lake is 75-feet deep in some places. Adults launching their boats are not required to wear life jackets. However, authorities have not yet said if Wood drowned or if a crime was committed. His body has been sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
