Police investigate pit bull attack in Wayne County

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Charges are pending in a vicious pit bull attack in Wayne County.

It happened around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday on County Run Lane near Goldsboro.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said 71-year-old Mildred Game was working in her garden when she was attacked. Game is in fair condition at a Greenville hospital.

Authorities say three of the four dogs are now in quarantine, and the fourth dog was in such bad shape it had to be put down.

They also say the dogs were not current on their rabies shots. The dog that was euthanized has been sent to the state lab for testing.

The dog attack remains under investigation. It will be up to the district attorney whether to file charges.
