Police say teen called 911 because her mom grounded her
A Smithfield teen is in hot water with the law for allegedly misusing the 911 emergency system.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police say a teen is charged with misusing the 911 system - apparently because she was upset over being grounded by her mother.

Officers went to 16-year-old Jasmyne Keyonia Davis' home just after midnight Tuesday after someone called from the Finney Drive residence screaming and crying.

Investigators said when they arrived, they discovered Davis called because she was unhappy her mom put her on restriction and took away her cell phone.

Neighbors told ABC11 that Jasmyne had been going through typical teenage rough patches with her mom that escalated recently with several police visits to their home.

Davis was booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $2,500 bond. She has an Aug. 28 court date.
