Protesters march through Streets at Southpoint
Ten people were arrested Wednesday evening during a protest at the Streets at Southpoint.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Witnesses said about 50 to 60 people yelling "Black lives matter" marched through the Streets at Southpoint in south Durham Wednesday evening.

At one point, the protesters staged a die-in inside the Nordstrom's shoe department.

Police monitored the group as they left the store and began to block Fayetteville Road between Herndon Road and Renaissance Parkway for approximately 40 minutes.

Police arrested nine of the protesters and a tractor-trailer driver after he did not stop on Fayetteville Road for demonstrators. The driver allegedly tried to drive through protesters lying in the street. But while he was charged by police, a magistrate dismissed the case after not finding probable cause he intended to injure or strike the protesters.

The protest ended around 8:30 p.m.

Some said the arrests were worth it in the names of Michael Brown -- who was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri -- and Eric Garner -- who died following an altercation with police officer Daniel Pantaleo in Staten Island, NY.

"Even though nothing happened to me personally that could have been my father my brother, it's not right, we want justice," protester Brandi Allen told ABC11.

Allen said her brother was one of the protesters arrested Wednesday night. There's no word yet on the names of those taken into custody and the charges they're facing. Police said they did find a stun gun on one of the protesters.

Two people also suffered minor injuries during the incident.
