Sheriff: Body found in Wake County

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- An investigation is underway in Wake County after the Wake County Sheriff's Office said a body was found off of Highway 98 over the weekend.

Deputies said two people were fishing near Falls Lake Cove and Durham Road around 5:45 p.m. Saturday when they found a body in a wooded area.

The body has been sent to the Medical Examiner's office for identification. The investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the body may possibly be that of a missing Durham County person, but a positive identification must be made before that can be confirmed.
