RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The son of Raleigh's police chief is accused of walking out of a bar without paying his tab.
David Louis Brown, 23, turned himself to Raleigh police Saturday afternoon.
He was charged with one count of defrauding an innkeeper in what a police department spokesperson said was a dispute over a bill at the Ugly Monkey Party Bar at 400 W. Morgan Street on July 8.
Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown released a public statement after the arrest.
"I am concerned and disappointed that my adult child made choices that caused him to be charged. On a personal level, I will support him and the efforts he makes to achieve positive change. While this is embarrassing for him and for me, it does not alter the love we have for one another. At the same time, I will maintain the confidence I have in the justice system and will let the legal process run its course."
