ROLESVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Rolesville Police Department is investigating after a Wake Forest man was shot and killed early Sunday morning.

Police said the shooting happened around 4:45 a.m. in the 100 block of N. Main Street.

Wesley Collin Carpenter, 27, was taken to WakeMed where he died.

Sunday afternoon police arrested 29-year-old James Michael Aaron and charged him with murder.

Investigators are not saying what led up to the shooting. An unidentified female neighbor told ABC11 that Aaron has lived next door to her for about two years. She was shocked about the incident. "It's really, really sad - this is really close to home."

The Rolesville police chief said in a press release that "there are no known threats to the community and this is being investigated as an isolated incident."
