Raleigh police say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash Thursday evening on westbound U.S. Highway 70/South Wilmington Street.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Separate accidents involving motorcycles in Raleigh and Wake Forest Thursday left two people dead.

Raleigh police say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash Thursday evening on westbound U.S. Highway 70/South Wilmington Street.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. Thursday near the intersection with Tryon Road. According to an accident report, Edmanuel Jimenez Salgado, 19, was travelling at an estimated 78 mph in a 45 zone when he lost control, ran off the road, and hit a tree.

Salgado was taken to WakeMed where he later died.

Later Thursday evening, there was a second motorcycle crash in Wake Forest just after 9 on Capital Blvd.

Investigators said Johnny Macon Pleasants, 57, of Zebulon, died when he lost control and ran off the road.

A passenger on the bike said another driver cut Pleasants off before the wreck, but could not give a description of the vehicle.
