Volunteer firefighter missing in Tar River identified

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office has identified a volunteer firefighter who went missing in the Tar River Sunday and is presumed drowned.

Deputies were called to the Shiloh Landing on Highway 258 North just after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said 20-year-old Anthony Tyler Brunett was on a fishing trip with three friends when they decided to go swimming.

Brunett disappeared underwater and hasn't been seen since. Crews have used underwater cameras, sonar, and divers in an attempt to find him.
