Trump campaign opens first NC office
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Haley Provencio is 18 and in two weeks, will vote for the first time. The high school senior is still undecided about who will get her vote.
"I've made lists with each of the candidates' policies," Provencio said Friday. Asked which one is ahead, she responded, "They are all about the same."
Her mom seems to have a more definite idea - she picked up a couple of "Trump for President" signs Friday from the new campaign office in Fayetteville, the first for Donald Trump in North Carolina.
Workers and volunteers hustled to set up the "Trump for President" signs that were picked up by a steady stream of supporters. Workers also put up tables for an army of volunteers to man telephone lines and organize house-to-house campaigns.
Volunteers say their strategy is simple: key in on the military community here, both active duty troops and their families, and veterans.
"It's about Fayetteville, what can we do for vets, what can we do for our town," said volunteer Pete Tilly.
Jeff Douglass, a veteran, picked up signs Friday and said so far, he likes what Trump has to say.
"We need better care," Douglass said. "And I stand behind him and like what he has to say."
Workers will cut the ribbon Saturday at 1 p.m. to officially open the campaign office. Trump will not be in town for that ceremony, and campaign workers aren't saying if he plans to make a campaign stop in Fayetteville before the March primary.
