CONCORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A mother in Concord, N.C. went into a coma after childbirth and only woke up after hearing her baby cry.
23-year-old Shelly Cawley had an emergency C-section and doctors had to put her under, but after several hours she would not wake up.
WGHP reports that a blood clot broke loose during surgery. Doctors at the hospital said they didn't think she would make it and that they were close to losing her.
Running out of options, the nursing staff came up with an idea: To bring in the baby and place her with her mother.
The baby eventually started crying and Cawley woke up.
"I'm 100% believer in miracles," Cawley said. "I think it's pretty amazing. It just amazes me that a baby so little can have such a big impact."
