18 months probation for Dwyer

PHOENIX -- Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and been placed on probation in a case stemming from alleged assaults on his wife during arguments at their apartment last year.

Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman Vincent Funari says Dwyer pleaded guilty Thursday to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 18 months of probation plus community service.

Remaining charges against the 25-year-old Dwyer -- including felony aggravated assault and criminal damage -- were dismissed.

Dwyer had pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday.

Investigators previously alleged Dwyer broke his wife's nose during a July 21 argument and punched her the following day.

After Dwyer's arrest in September, the Cardinals placed him on the reserve/non-football illness list. That meant he couldn't play for Arizona again during the 2014-15 season.
