RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms for a one-year deal with left wing Chris Terry.
The team announced Thursday the deal will pay the 26-year-old $875,000 next season.
Terry had NHL career highs of 11 goals and 20 points in 57 games last season with Carolina.
In a statement, executive vice president and general manager Ron Francis says Terry "took another step forward last year" to prove he "could contribute offensively at the NHL level."
The Hurricanes took Terry in the fifth round of the 2007 draft. Carolina opens the regular season at Nashville on Oct. 8 and plays its home opener against Detroit on Oct. 10.
