INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts linebacker Erik Walden referred to his ejection and NFL-mandated $27,562 fine for touching an official in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals as "nonsense."

"It's an unfortunate situation," Walden said. "Really, I think it's nonsense. The league made the decision. All we'll do is appeal it and move on."

Walden was ejected in the second quarter after he swiped down to push head linesman Bruce Stritesky's arm off him.

"It's a reaction," Walden said. "Me and [Bengals tight end Jermaine] Gresham were having some words. [I] knocked his hand down and looked around. [Stritesky] overreacted, pulled his flag, threw his flag, ejection."

Walden said he didn't try to plead his case to Stritesky because he feels like he already had his mind made up on the penalty.

"I guess he had something against me," Walden said. "Whatever. Like I said, we'll move forward to the Steelers. That's the most important thing."

Walden showed the media the fine letter from the league and said, "Tell [commissioner] Roger [Goodell] I appreciate it."
